A few words on the show supported by the European Creative Hub…
A lively lecture on Gilles Deleuze’s work
What my previous shows and the new one have in common is the idea of becoming animal. According to Deleuze, the writer has a strong ability to become animal as he stretches the limits of language – the limit between words and silence, text and music, man and animal. Deleuze quoted Artaud : « I write for the illiterate », meaning on behalf of the illiterate.
The main reason why I wanted to produce a show on Deleuze’s work is his voice, his outloud thoughts. We took the first four letters of his Abécédaire – animal, beverage, culture and desire. It is like a conversation with Deleuze. To be able to capture his work, there was a lot to discuss during rehearsals and we improvised a lot as well.
The show will be a kind of lecture : a table, three chairs. A lecturer tries to present the great principles of the Abécédaire but he gets constantly interrupted by a dancer / acrobat or a singer / actor. It is about showing that reflection is possible on stage. It is expressed through body and movements… The show focuses on essential matters : the relationship between the audience, the writer and the actors. The show is simple and yet fun, focusing on what is the essence of theatre : creativity. Why is it essential and how is it an act of resistance?
